Dig Here: Archives as Sources of Treasure for All Types of Writers and Illustrators

An interactive discussion of the potential of archives as sources of fact, inspiration, and prompts for imagination for writers and illustrators. Learn about archives—what they are, where they are, how to access them, and how to get the most from using the materials preserved there. Leave the discussion with tips for using archives for your own projects.

The method: a presentation of facts about archives and examples of how learning about and using archives enriched the fiction of the presenter plus group discussion of experiences with archives and speculation about how participants’ literary and/or imaginative work might be enhanced by seeking and using an archive relevant to their work.

The goal: Each participant will identify one possible way that archival information can elevate their own work.
